Update on Covid Symptoms

15th Mar 2021

Monday 15th March 2021

Dear Parents

As Sandwell is still an area of high Covid cases I thought it would be useful for you to see the new advice from Sandwell’s council website.

Now all the children are back in school we need to continue to ensure we are extra vigilant, I know some of you have opted to do the lateral flow tests at home twice a week and I want to thank you for helping to protect our community.

The below is taken directly from the website for your information.

Covid-19 Testing

There are four options for getting tested for Covid-19 in Sandwell

  • You MUST get a test if you have Covid-19 symptoms (a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a change to your sense of taste or smell)

You CAN CHOOSE to get a test as a precaution if you have the following other symptoms:

    • headaches
    • aches and pains
    • feeling very tired for no good reason
    • sore throat
    • runny nose
    • sneezing
    • tummy ache in children.

If you are booking a test as a precaution select the following option on the Covid-19 test booking formMy local council or health protection team has asked me (or someone I live with) to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms. If you have any of these other symptoms you do not need to isolate unless you have a positive test result.

From now on we will be asking for you to book a test for your child if they are displaying any of these new symptoms. As they are not the main symptoms the advice is the household does not need to isolate unless there is a positive result, however we will be asking pupils to remain at home until they have received a negative result.

Thank you for your continued support

Keep Safe
