Letter from your new teacher - Mrs Whitehurst
Dear Year 3,
I hope you have been staying safe and helpful while you have been at home during lockdown this Summer Term. I also hope you are looking forward to returning to school in September. I am missing all of the children and am really excited to see you all back.
I wanted to let you know that I will be your new teacher in Year 4, along with Miss Adam as our Learning Support Practitioner. I am especially excited to see you all in my class in September as the last time I taught many of you was in the Nursery class. I can’t wait to see how well you have developed and become even more amazing.
We have lots of fantastic fun things for you to learn about in Year 4 and would like to make your return as easy as possible. I would, however, like to reassure you that even if you feel nervous or anxious about returning to school, that is okay and we are all in the same situation. Some of you may even be really excited to return, that’s okay too. However you feel about returning, please remember we are here for you and your families and want to work with you all to make it as normal as we can do and start the year with a positive mind-set.
I am setting a small activity for you to complete during the summer holidays. As I mentioned earlier, I have taught many of you already in nursery class but, whether this is the case or not, you will all have changed. So, I would like you and your parents to write me a letter and return it on your first day back in September. Please see the separate sheet for further instructions and bring the letters with you on your first day back.
Please make sure you have a great summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you in September.

Summer Homework for Pupil. July 2020
Although I may have met and known you well in nursery, I would like to get to know the person you are now. Your task is to write me a letter explaining what your likes and dislikes are, your talents, clubs you attend out of school, who your family are and what you like to do with them, etc. Let me know what you are looking forward to and what you may be anxious about too. Please use the lined sheet of paper attached.
Year 4 will be different to year 3 but we will still aim to have fun whilst learning. All the things you write in your letter will help me to help you during your time in year 4.
You may find some of the work tricky and as far as we know, you will still be having the multiplication test next summer. However, we will be there to help you through it so you can achieve well.
We look forward to seeing you in September.
Mrs Whitehurst & Miss Adam
