Can I take the opportunity to welcome Mrs Jones to our school. She has been getting know pupils and staff all week, if you see her about please don’t hesitate to stop and have a chat to introduce yourselves she would is looking forward to getting to know our wonderful families. (there is a letter from Mrs Jones also attached to this newsletter).

COVID-19

You will be aware that guidance has changed and is set to change again on Tuesday so I thought I would update you on school procedures.

  • If your child develops any of the main symptoms they will still need to go and get a PCR test.

  • From Tuesday 11th January 2022 if you test positive on a routine LFT you no longer need to get a PCR test to confirm the result.

  • If your child tests positive on a Lateral Flow Test or a PCR test they will have to isolate. On day 6 and day 7 (taken 2hrs apart) they can take an LFT, if both of these tests are negative then the pupil can return to school on day 8. If the LFT is positive then they will have to isolate for the full 10 days, returning to school on day 11 – providing they are well enough.

  • If your child is a close contact we will contact you directly to inform you.

  • If your child is considered to be a close contact of someone who has tested positive in school they will not be required to self-isolate but are strongly advised to take an LFD test every day for 7 days, or until 10 days since your last contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19 if this is earlier. The test must be taken in a morning before they come to school.

If your child is isolating and they are well in themselves they will be required to log into Teams where they will be able to join their classroom virtually and access everything the pupils in school are doing. Log ins remain the same from last year. If you need your log ins please contact the office and arrangements will be made to give you the information you need. If your child is ill we do not expect them to join in with the online learning until they are well enough to do so.

Friday 7th January 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

I
thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce myself and say hello to you
all!  A
s of this
week, I have take
n up the position of Deputy Head at
Annie Lennard Primary
after Mrs Rogman’s retirement at
Christmas
I
know I have
very ‘big shoes
to fill!’
Many of you
may have seen me at the start of day on
occasions
this week and it has been lovely to say hello to yourselves and your
children.

So,
a
little
bit about myself -
I have taught in Sandwell for the
last fifteen years as a Primary school teacher
, leaving my
last school and Year 5 class at the end of the Autumn term.  I have taught
across Key Stage 1 and 2, in every year group, in my teaching career

and have led many different curriculum subjects and areas during this time

When I came into teaching, my
reason was to make a
difference to children’s chances
and
opportunities
in life; even now,
nearly two decades later
in a different role as Deputy Head,
that is
still my motivation.

I
have thoroughly enjoyed my first week
, getting to
know the amazing staff and wonderful
pupils
I’ve been made to feel very welcome
and
I’ve been in classes lots this week, finding my feet and getting up to speed
with how we work at Annie Lennard.  I
really am
looking forward to working with and alongside you all an
d
your children.
So, please
say hello
, they’ll always be a friendly smile
in
return.

Best
Wishes
