Parent Elections

Dear Parent/Carer


I am delighted to say that there has been a response and there are 3 candidates for the 1vacancy. This means we must now hold a ballot.

Attached to this letter is:

  • a ballot paper with the names of the candidates (in alphabetical order)
  • a copy of the personal statements from the 2 candidates.


Each parent can submit one ballot papers, regardless of the number of children/students you have attending the school. As indicated on the ballot paper you should vote by marking an X alongside the name of the parent you support.

Once you have marked the ballot paper you should seal it in the envelope. This should then be put in the ballot box, which can be found in the main entrance. If it is not possible for you to vote in person, please return to the following address: Annie Lennard School, The Oval, Smethwick, B67 6LE


The election will be decided by a simple majority of votes cast. In the event of a tie, lots will be drawn.


When the election has been completed I will let you know the outcome. If in the meantime you have any queries, please let me know.

Election of Parent Governor for the period: 2022 - 2026


Nominations have been received from the following parents listed on the ballet paper below wishing to serve as one of 1 parent governors on the school’s governing board for a 4 year period.

A ballot is therefore necessary and a ballot paper is below for your use.

You may record one vote for up to 1 candidates of your choice.  You must not vote more than once for the same candidate. 

When completed, votes should be cast in the ballot box situated main entrance.  Postal votes should be forwarded to me by first class post and clearly endorsed "Parent Governor Elections - Ballot Paper".

The closing date for votes is Friday 21st January 2022.  Votes cast after the closing date will be invalid.



Candidates Personal Statements


Candidate 1 – Inderjit Samra

I would like to be considered as a parent governor as I am highly passionate about education and the impact this has on children. I currently have 2 children at this school.I have always taken an active role in my children’s development as I believe that all children should have a strong foundation from an early age to give them the opportunity to build/ improve on. I work in accountancy and fiancé so am able to analyse and understand financial reports. I am always willing to learn and attend CPD events. I also have a strong passion for extra curriculum activities and have encouraged my children to take part in events like 5k pretty muddy for charity having myself completed challenges such as the wolf run, tough mudder and the London marathon.


If elected I would offer commitment, enthusiasm and determination to make a difference.


Candidate 2 – Mohammed Vaseem


I have 3 children currently studying at the school and hence am keen to be involved and offer support/ expertise I can to help the board and school meet its strategic objectives. By profession I work as a business analyst, which involves helping current business functions to identify. articulate problems with current business functions/ systems and then that into clear requirements from which solutions can be implemented.


I am hoping that I will be able to use my inquisitive nature, analysis skills and interpersonal skills that I have gained to do well as a parent governor.


Candidate 3 – Saverna Amanat Ali


I am hard working, loyal, multi-tasking, inquisitive about learning and I like to stay in academic and  research sector. I like to challenge myself and I am productive  person by nature and have nice time management. I Have done my undergraduate degree in Agriculture and agribusiness management from University of Karachi, I wanted to study more so I have done MBA in marketing from Pakistan, then I did not satisfy so started my second master in Finance and Risk management from University of Florence Italy and recently graduated. I have interest in natural sciences as my A level and GSCE (equivalent) subjects were biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
